  1. Travis From USA On November 30, -0001

Out of the 30+ countries I have visited around the world and the 100+ hostels I have stayed in, Palenque hostel was by far the filthiest, most disorganized shit-show of a hostel I have ever seen in my entire life. At the time, I tried to be positive about the situation, considering we had arrived on Christmas Eve and things were going to be a little more relaxed due to celebrations and the holiday. But right from the bat, our private room which had a soiled, sweat-stenched, bed-bug infested mattress was red flag #1. The kitchen and dining areas were a complete disaster. Breaking all rules of cleaning up after yourself in a communal ostel setting. The showers, which during various times during the day, had no running water, were full of hair and dirt and other garbage. The big thing for me was the mess that was left after the Christmas celebration. We are totally forgiving of the late night rager that the staff threw, right outside our bedroom, which lasted until 6am. I'm forgiving of the nose and the party. No problem. I am not forgiving however of the unsanitary conditions of the hostel. The only positive I have is that the staff was a very patient and kind staff. That's all I got. I thought very long and hard about what kind of review I wanted to leave. This is the first negative review I hae ever left for a hostel. But I will never forget this place and I would advise people to never stay here. Ever.
