It is not easy to find and there is another one with a similar name nearby the address amd you have to walk and ask a lot to find it. Sheets do not look so clean and there is also the problem that no one had idea about our reservation so we got something different than what we booked. In any case, thanks God we got a place! Location however is very good and the guy in reception is very friendly

Very clean and near to the coast. Nice (but little) swimmingpool. Staff was good, but kept talking about this review. Besides, the renting of bikes is to expensive for the service.

without breakfast but THE BEST HOSTEL EVER!!

  4. Emilie From Belgium On November 30, -0001

The staff is nice and the location is ok. You have to buy your breakfast but you can make a tee or coffee. The dorms is not clean, I found hair and sand in my bed. So I changed the bed. There is a window in the bathroom and it is not cover. Everybody could see in the bathroom.

When we finally managed to find the hostel (offers no directions on Hostelsclub), the guy there was very surprised, didn't seem to know about online bookings at all and demanded a payment before anything else. Our so-called "deluxxe room with double bed and WC/shower ensuite" which we had carefully chosen for our honeymoon was occupied but we weren't told this until after our payment. Instead of it we were given a lousy four-bed-room which wasn't deluxxe at all, not even standard. It was outrageous! The bed was almost falling apart, the Polyester linen was neither comfortable nor particularly clean and the SHARED toilet/ shower was outside our room, always dirty, no warm water, and occupied for most time. We had a power cut so no electricity all evening. The worst part was that even though we had paid 55 €/ 1 night - the "receptionist" neither understood our printed booking confirmation, online deposit, nor exchange rates - he knocked on our door half an hour after check-in demanding the full pay for the deluxe room, since he had been informed about current exchange rates. Of course, we didn't pay for it but had a major argument until later the manager was inforemd who was full of regret for our situation, but did not apologize personally, nor offer anything but a cup of tea. It was an awkward stay and we were glad when we had left the hostel. I have been to Israel many times (more than 16 months in total) but this was my worst experience with any palce to stay!!!

DO NOT trust the people there. At the beginning, the staff made us feel very welcome. I fell for it. They told us that they know a good and cheap fish restaurant nearby. We were quite tired but they insisted on showing us around the town. We didn't want to be rude so we agreed to go. One of the staff who told us to call him Oscar took us there. I know I should've asked to look at the menu instead of letting him order for us. We were served a variety of appetizers (which should be normally free), one main fish dish (I wasn't too hungry so I said to order only one main), a bottle of water and one beer. When it came to settle the bill "Oscar" pretended not to want any money from us at first. I asked a second time and he showed me the bill which came up to 400NIS (approx 80EUR!). He didn't object when I only gave him 200NIS which is definitely still more than what it should be. The next day, I checked the menu of the most expensive restaurant in Acre which Oscar pointed out to us and ordering two starters, two main dishes and drinks would have cost less than 400NIS. I didn't think anyone working at the hostel we were staying at would try to rip us off. The private room was bad value for money. The air conditioning leaked so there was a wet patch on the carpet. The room was smelly. The bathroom did not have a proper separate shower i.e. no separation between the toilet and the shower. It would probably be better off staying in Haifa and making a day trip to Acre.

Fair-sized rooms. Ours was smelling as though someone had'nt washed their feet for a couple of weeks. Apart from that, good hostel.

Lonely Planet has got it wrong! There is an alternative to the one hostel they mention (which receives mixed reviews). Akko Sand is a little gem - apparently not long in business because all the fittings appeared new. Lovely atmosphere in a well restored and refurbished old building, helpful manager and near the centre over quaint old Akko. We had a double room with ensuite - the dorm appears to be in a new extension on the roof. No kitchen facility, though you can eat cheaply nearby. V. good value for money. Highly recommended.

This was a phenominal hostel. My friend and I were booked for 2 beds in a mixed dorm, but the manager of the hostel moved us to a private room free of charge since we would have been the only females in an otherwise full dorm. The whole staff was very nice and quite helpful.

The Hotel is located in the heart of Akko suk, hard to be found but just round the corner of Saladin street, asking people around and got it easily! Romms are new, clean and silent. The owner is kind and friendly. For nice and gentile gests a woundrous breakfast is reserved! Must try Mr. Ammudy breakfast, it is the best in Israel!

Me and my mate Pascal stayed in this hostel for two nights. It was a great time and Ibrahim and Ahmed will help you with everything you need! We made a trip to Rosh Hanikra and visited the old Akko and got some good recommendations of those guys. They even made me a traditional sandwich! Great time there!

The Akko Sand Hostel is directly next to the port, the wall and the entrance to the old city, at all. The hostel is very familiar. At first I thought it is very arabic cause it looked like but our room, we had a suite with view to the Al Jezzar Mosque, was very very tidy, clean and seemed to be new. I recommend the hostel. It is a good place to stay in Akko!
