Info & Description
A few minutes walk from the Central Station a well known cosy hostel at the 'short head' of the eldest shopping street in town, the Nieuwendijk. Aroza is surrounded by a lot of bars, restaurants, shops of all kinds and there is a supermarket next door, all open 7 days a week.Right in the centre of town near the Central Station with all its connections (f.i rent-a bike, canal boat tours, buses, trams, taxis) our hostel offers you all kinds of possibilities to explore our city. A lot of museums and interesting sites are within walking distance.
Travelling time is short to popular places like Volendam, Marken and the Zaanstreek.
Since 1988 we accommodate guests from all over the world, both young and old, mainly backpackers.
We have male, female and mixed dorms, every room/dorm with its own en-suite bathroom with shower and toilet.
In the lobby we serve hot and cold drinks. There is a pool table and you can make use of free Wi-Fi and internet (pay by hour).
No curfew, no lock-out.
Taxes are included in the price.
Warning: One should not expect a trendy fashionable clean dutch design hostel. Aroza isn't. We just do our best to give you the basics at low price. We try to be flexible, but with only 9 rooms it might not be easy sometimes to fullfill all your wishes.
There are lockers available for those who booked in shared rooms (buy a lock or bring your own) as well as a free safety deposit box behind the desk to keep small valuables.
We are happy to take your reservation.

Expensive for what you get.
great location, great people...if only the toilets were working
Great place, very authentic but homely and gives you exactly what you need - a bed, shower, wifi, and somewhere to relax. Plus a free breakfast! Would stay here again.
The beds were clean and comfortable, but the bathroom was really dirty, with big puddles on the floor. The rest of the hostel was good, and the staff were friendly. The breakfast was simple (toast and various spreads) but nice.
Great location near the central station and staff is helpful but the lack of cleanliness in bathroom or in beds is annoying (except if you have bed-linen).
Dirty and expensive
Easily the most horrible hostel where I stayed. I booked for two nights but spend here only one. Only lockers are placed in basement and it was quite creepy. There are only one key per room. So if someone is (even sleeping) in the room, door is open.
Great location from Amsterdam Centraal and most of the main attractions. Grocery store right next door. Staff was friendly and helpful, even addressing me by name. Bathrooms were reasonably clean for number of people in the room, but they need better curtains to keep water in the shower and the rest of the place dry. Shelving in the bathroom would've been nice. Breakfast is coffee/tea/milk/juice, and bread with cheese, butter, jam, peanut butter, or Nutella. Nothing fancy, but it was enough.
Staff is the best - shout out to Ana and Johnny. Located in one of the most central and busy streets in Amsterdam. Beds are comfortable. Rooms are clean, basement not really. Smoking "room" has its charm. Overall, I was expecting less has I booked a week before my stay (April 7-14), but Aroza surpassed my expectations and I can recommend it to every free spirit who wants to spend some time in Amsterdam.
Hygiëne is a shit
..awfull. Mouses everywhere
If you have no other options left over to stay in Amsterdam you can choose Aroza !
Not clean
Aroza Hostel is a good place where one gets both a friendly atmosphere and a quiet environment. The only thing I wasn't happy about was cleaning standards, but overall I would advise anyone to stay there. I had a good time and I meet interesting people. Great place to be See you, then
Very nice staff, conveniently located and decently priced, but...my room, esp my bathroom, was disgustingly dirty and in disrepair, and never cleaned during my 4 day stay.
It's the worst hostel I've ever stayed in. For three nights the bathroom hasn't been cleaned once. The don't even change sheets and bins. There was no toilet paper either.
The cleanliness was an issue, especially the washroom. Isnpite of requesting that it be cleaned up - it wasn't. It was ignored. The only saving grace is the location. The reception had a staff named Manon (hope i spelled that correctly) The lady was helpful, polite and extended all necessary assistance with respect to directions etc.
The room was dirty, the shower didnt have a head. The stairs are terrible, the lockers are half broken. Wouldnt recommend anyone to stay there.
Cheap and affordable, amazing location, decent rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful and the location doesn't really get any better (1 min from central station) Overall highly recommended!
Its in a very good position but if you care for cleanliness do not go for it
