Info & Description

Hotel André Gill is a charming, quiet, family run establishment, located at the heart of Montmatre. Perfect for those travelling on a budget, this 2 star hotel can be found on Andre Gil Street, a little side street off of Martyrs Street, famous for its atmosphere, restaurants, bars, cabarets and concert halls (Michou, Madame Arthur, Le divan du Monde, La Cigale). Ideally located, Hotel Andre Gil is just a few steps away from the Sacre Coeur Basilica, Place du Tertre and less than five minutes from the lively Pigalle district, the Moulin Rouge and the Grands Boulevards (Galeries Lafayette, Printemps).

The hotel offers different types of room: singles with a single bed, a sink inside the room and shared WC and showers outside in the corridor; doubles and twins all with private bathrooms with a shower. These rooms are spread over six floors which are easily reached via a central lift. The attractive paintings of Montmatre which decorate the hotel are the works of local artists on Tertre Square. Guests have a computer room, a TV room with DVD, a microwave and a fridge at their disposal. Some of the guests may enjoy breakfast or even an aperitif in a pretty private courtyard full of flowers.
A simple, charming hotel in an excellent location.

Helpful staff, good location. Wireless internet is missing in rooms.

I am REALLY dissapointed with the treatment in this hotel. The owner was extremaly rude with me and my daughter. We arrive there 15:30 and our room wasn't ready, we was really tired and she didn't like when we complain. She start shouting, saying bad words.... The situation was really embarassed.I don't understand how a hotel owner can treat a custumer like that. This hotel was a really nightmare for us.

I think the place was okay but the head lady running the place was extremely rude to us on several occasions. She lacks professional and people skills. She also gave us a room that she knew had a leaky ceiling and of course it started to rain. Drip, drip, drip all night long. I asked her about it in the morning and she knew about it all along and still gave us that room. If it wasn't for her our stay would have been fine.

The hotel is quite small, but is situated in a good location; very close to the metro, bars and shops (but there are too many sex shops and drunks in the area). The elevator is really small and does not go up to the top floor (6th); you have to walk up some stairs. My room was tiny but the view was good (could see the Eifel tower). The maids don’t knock and just walk in when cleaning the rooms, whilst I was sleeping in on two occasions, maids just walked in; I found that to be extremely inconsiderate and rude! Service at times was also very slow. However, some staff were nice and they did keep the place nice and clean. Breakfast is ok but it’s always the same food, lacked variety! Though, staff did always have a smile on their faces and were polite, they seemed happy to help and most could speak English; so communicating was no problem. I do think this hotel was a bit pricey and they also charged me an extra amount when arrived (for tax); so it became even more expensive! However, taking it all into account, I would definitely come back.

For future visitors: please be aware that the Gare du Nord opens at 5:00 am and not at 5:30 as the hotel staff informed us. And if you need a Taxi in the early morning, this will be no problem. You can get a Taxi everywhere and it cost max€ 40,- to the CDG airport, not 110,-- as we where told by the Hotel reception!

Really great location in Montmartre and close to subwaystation Pigalle. Clean, small and simple rooms but defintely good value for money!
