Altea is a wonderful hostel just on the corner of two smallish roads in Nice. Free parking not far away, a laundromat around the corner, and just a block away from a very populated and active street in the city; ripe for shopping, good food, and a straight walk to the beach. The floors were a bit grimy, as it were, but overall the hostel was clean and the proprietors were friendly and accommodating. I would suggest Altea to anybody that is interested in staying a cozy place in the heart of Nice.

The guests cannot use the kitchen.

The hostel is situated very well, near the train station and in general it's well equipped, however we were very disappointed by one of the receptionists. He was very unfriendly, even harsh(!) when it came to answering our questions and didn't explain us anything. (How to use the keycard appropriately for our rooms ect...)

Location was good. 10 min walk to trainstation, a bit too long walk to the beach though. Good amount of info on busstimetables etc. at the reception. Staff wasn't the greatest or friendliest, they'd also placed me in a wrong room (I had specifically request something). Price of a stay was way too much considering the state the hostel was in. They also took a copy of passport from every guest (I've not encountered this anywhere else).

The info that the hostel gives you is not entirely correct. They do not have lockers, they have a small locked drawer in the managers office but it's not the same as lockers in my opinion. If you book through this website you should email them or call them after doing so. He did not have my reservation and had to look it up. Luckily the rooms weren't full or else I would have been screwed. Wifi is free which is always a plus. It is not a 5 minute walk from the train station. Probably more like a 10 minute walk and at least 20-25 minutes to the beach. It's not located on the best street but does have a grocery store close by and some sit down restaurants if you want to eat near the hostel. They do offer luggage storage for 2 euros a bag after you check out. Sheets are 1.20 euros, towels are 1 euro for a small size and 2 euros for a bigger towel, they have a 20 euro deposit on your key that you have to pay upfront so if you are short on cash that's a good thing to know ahead of time. Other than all of that it was clean (the bathroom not the cleanest but not gross by any means) and newly painted. It was a bit expensive for what it is but it's Nice and housing is expensive. I just felt like they nickel and dime you for everything. He had maps and pointed out where somethings are which is always appreciated and he speaks perfect English.

Nice and cozy hostel, we had a wounderful time staying there. Located not far from the train station, which is great for backpackers.

Good if u r looking 4 a place 2 sleep! Fairly clean, if ur not fussy good location next to the train station, small rooms no kitchen nor common room no community a little cheaper and easier than the yha around the corner but also without breKfAst! The ratings unroll now ought to be a little better! I'd says 70-80 average would be fair...

Its an OK hostel, good location, good room, not really good bathroom, no comom area (its more like an hotel, you dont see the other guests). But a good place to stay, close to the beach!!
