Very clean and quiet but convenient location. Staff is friendly but unable to provide much directions. The storage space is insecure and there is no bicycle storage area.

  2. ILI AMIRA From Malaysia On November 30, -0001

Bakpak Gion Hostel is a great hostel. Near to Gion street and it feels like home.

  3. Mathieu From France On November 30, -0001

Smelly, dirty and souless place. I do NOT recommend at all. I cancelled my reservation after a night. Eventually the owner didn't refund me for the 3 more nights. So go away from this place!

  4. Erin From Australia On November 30, -0001

    Nice place.

  5. Stephanie From Germany On November 30, -0001

Good location (close to the station), the staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was also great. We had 3 awesome nights there

  6. Michael From Australia On November 30, -0001

Acceptable but next time I'm in Kyoto I'll try my luck elsewhere. Good beds but all three showers are together on the ground floor which is a bit inconvenient. Only cooking facilities are a microwave and toaster.

  7. Thanakorn From Thailand On November 30, -0001

Very nice guesthouse, clean and convenient for foreigners. Next time I will comeback again

  8. Tom From USA On November 30, -0001

Best hostel yet - friendly people, very clean and well organized - nice kitchen facilities, inc. large mug of instant coffee...toilets on every floor (for just 8 people each), nice showers.. online computer available, in addition to free wifi of the town... Best hostel I've stayed in, out of 20 or so..

  9. Yannik From Germany On November 30, -0001

I really love the Bakpak Gion Hostel - in the middle of the Gion District!! :) Yugo, the nice owner of the hostel, is very kind and helpful! The rooms are nice and the lounge is a good place to meet other travellers :-)

    Great location. Easy to find.

  11. Julien From France On November 30, -0001

good welcome. Good kitchen but only reusable dishware. Really small bathroom. So nice flat on the rooftop. Dormitory ok.

  12. Kok Seng From Singapore On November 30, -0001

Good location near GION SHIJO station. Have coin-laundry and drier. Strict check in time 3-9pm

  13. IM From South Korea On November 30, -0001

    That's good

THE HOSTEL IS CONVENIENTLY LOCATED IN THE CENTRE OF KYOTO, BUT PICTURES ON THE WEBSITE ARE MISLEADING. ROOMS ARE TOO NOISY AND SMELLY, WALLS ARE TOO THIN AND EVERYONE WHO WOULD GO TO THE LOO DURING THE NIGHT WILL WAKE YOU UP. NO WINDOWS IN MY ROOM AND A STRONG SMELL. NO RECEPTION AREA, STAFF OK. SHOWERS TOO SMALL, ALL IN ALL NOT REALLY PLEASANT TO GO BACK TO AFTER A DAY WONDERING AROUND.

  15. Roberto From Mexico On November 30, -0001

The Bakpak Gion Hostel was one of the best places I stayed at in my month of travel through Japan. It was flawless, except for how far away it is from the Kyoto JR station, even if it is less than a block away from a subway station.

  16. Danis From Indonesia On November 30, -0001

I think this was my bad experience to stay here during my trip in Japan. My checked in was late, around 9pm and no staff here. Then I checked out early about 8.30am and the staff asked me more fee due to earlier checked out. Even he also asked more money if I kept my luggage here. It was ridiculous. Fortunately I was stay for one night here.

  17. Victor From Argentina On November 30, -0001

Pros: had free candies, tea, coffe. Chess & other games, tv, pc. Cool staff! Good water pressure and temperature. Cons: For cooking you only have a microwave or an electric oven. Bathrooms are doors are tricky to lock. The candies ran out and they didn't put more.

  18. Marie-Michele From Canada On November 30, -0001

The hostel was extremely well situated, affordable and the staff was nice and helpful. However, the beds and pillows were too hard to be comfortable and it was quite noisy, both because of the traffic outside and the noisy stairs and doors inside. Also, non-working wi-fi in the lounge made it hard to socialize with the other guests. The roof terrasse was cool however!

  19. Seph From Singapore On November 30, -0001

Located in a very convenient site. A little small but serves it's purpose. Staff can maybe provide more info to get around Kyoto. But all in all a good experience. Will visit again!

    Very good location!
