Renowned for its British watercolours and JMW Turner works, the Whitworth Art Gallery, in the central university district, houses themed exhibitions, modern and historic fine art prints, sculpture, textiles and rare wallpapers. Don't forget to try the gallery's award-winning café.
As well as a wide-ranging programme of temporary exhibitions and changing displays from the Whitworth's own collection, the gallery is home to an art book shop. The Eyeopener tours give a general introduction to the gallery and its collections and are held every Saturday afternoon.
