    The Walters Art Museum in Baltimore has a large collection of world art ranging from pre-dynastic Egypt to 20th-century Europe. Highlights include Greek sculpture and Roman sarcophagi, medieval ivories and Old Master paintings, Art Deco jewellery and 19th-century masterpieces.



    The collection was brought together by William and Henry Walters. The museum was founded in 1931 and has been at the forefront of research, conservation and education ever since. Since the extensive renovations in 2001, many objects have been on display for the first time.

    The museum comprises different sections: The Ancient World and the Ancient Near East; The Medieval World; Renaissance and Baroque Art; 19th-century Art; European Art; Asian Art and Manuscripts and Rare Books.
