Hidden away in a beautiful 18th-century square off Oxford Street, the Wallace Collection houses luxury objects from tiaras to snuff boxes, but most prized of all are the paintings. Rubens, Van Dycks and Rembrandts hang alongside nine Canaletto Venice paintings.

The prized possessions of the Wallace family, collected through five generations, were bequeathed to the nation in 1897.
