    Glasgow:

The city-centre Lighthouse is dedicated to architecture and design. These former newspaper offices, designed by Glasgow architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh, have six floors of gallery space where today's architects display visions for our cities. Visit the top-floor Doocot for a post-exhibition snack.

The Lighthouse is Scotland's first national centre for architecture and design, fashioned by way of a £13-million conversion to Charles Rennie Mackintosh's 1895 building for the Glasgow Herald.

The interpretation centre examines Mackintosh's influence. Based on the third floor, it includes the stairway up the Mackintosh Tower, from the top of which you can see across Glasgow to the Mackintosh-designed Glasgow School of Art.
