The King Center is a memorial and education centre built in remembrance of Martin Luther King Jr. Run by his son, Dexter Scott King, it is located in a beautiful setting close to where Dr King grew up in Atlanta.

Dr King was one of America's greatest civil rights leaders and one of the world's greatest activists for freedom and peace. He was born on 15 January 1929 in Atlanta. An American Baptist minister, he opposed discrimination against blacks by organising non-violent resistance and peaceful mass demonstrations. The most notable of these protests include the year-long boycott of a local Alabama bus company in 1955 and the march on Washington in 1963. It was at the demo in Washington that King delivered his world-famous "I have a dream..." speech.
