    The State Musuem of Fine Arts is dedicated to Kyrgyz folk and applied arts, with a focus on Russian and Soviet art. The full collection includes around 17,500 paintings, drawings, sculptures and traditional decorative art.



    The museum began as the State Picture Gallery and was located in the St Nicholas Church, Oak Park. The present museum was built in 1974 and features a yurt (portable felt dwelling) and a permanent exhibition of shyrdaks (traditional felt rugs).
