Sir John Soane's Museum near Holborn is the former home of the neoclassical architect and art collector. Discover hidden passageways and an extensive collection of classical antiquities, ranging from busts and urns to architectural artefacts.

As old age approached Sir John - architect, collector and bricklayer's son-made-good - arranged for an Act of Parliament (1833) to preserve his house and collection "as nearly as circumstances will admit in the state" in which it was left.

The house contains masterpieces by Turner and Canaletto, plus a complete Egyptian Sarcophagus (1370 BC).
