    Hobart:

A historic plant collection and a large number of native Australian trees flourish within the manicured grounds of the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens in Hobart. Explore the world's only Subantarctic Plant House, with its specimens displayed in a climatically controlled environment.

The Japanese garden is always picture-perfect with cherry blossom in spring, water lilies in summer, fiery-orange maples in autumn and gnarled bare branches in winter. Head to the Cactus House for spiky species from Madagascar and Mexico. Restore your energy with a bite to eat in the restaurant.
