    Lima:

Rebuilt in the 1930s in a grandiose Baroque style, the Presidential Palace stands on the site of the home of Lima's founder, Francisco Pizarro, in the city centre. Visitors can watch the changing of the guards each morning.

The palace was originally the site of the capital's first church, built in 1535. Today, the palace features a number of patios and halls dedicated to notable figures of Peruvian history, but unfortunately visitors can only see the outside.
