The People's Palace is a museum tracing the social history of Glasgow from 1750 until the present day. There are exhibits showing home life during the Second World War and a "steamie" (laundrette), as well as more up-to-date displays.
The museum is surrounded by gardens and attached to the elegant Victorian greenhouse known as the Winter Gardens, which has an ongoing programme of temporary exhibitions.
Outside the museum stands the spectacular Doulton Fountain. Given to the city by Henry Doulton, it is the largest terracotta fountain in the world.
