Picturesque Old Montreal is squeezed in between the skyscrapers of downtown and the mighty St Lawrence River. One of the city's must-sees, its cobble-stoned streets, horse-drawn carriages and Old World charm feel like a piece of Europe right in North America.
The area contains many fine examples of French colonial architecture including the Old Port, Place Jacques-Cartier, City Hall, the Marché Bonsecours, Place d'Armes, Pointe-à-Callière Museum and Notre Dame Basilica. It is also bursting with galleries, cafés and boutiques.
