The Narryna Heritage Museum is nestled in the heart of Battery Point, Hobart's original village. Built over a three-year period in the 19th century by sea captain Andrew Haigh, in 1957 this Georgian sandstone house was established as Australia's first folk museum.
The nationally significant collection includes 19th-century furniture, china, silver, paintings and fine art. The building itself is a classic example of Georgian sandstone architecture, set in a charming old world garden. It provides an evocative 'snapshot' of life at the time for wealthy settlers.
