Moscow's Museum of Contemporary Russian History is housed in what was - between 1831 and 1917 - the Moscow English Club. It now displays a huge collection depicting life in Soviet and post-Soviet Russia.
Opened in 1917 to mark the Bolshevik Revolution, the museum concentrates on the revolutionary fervour that transformed Russia from a Tsarist to a socialist state between 1905 and the Second World War.
Visitors should not miss the remarkable collection of Soviet propaganda posters, medals and commemorative coins, evoking an iconic period in Russia's history.
