    Sydney:

Sydney's Museum of Contemporary Art opened its doors in 1991. Since then it has taken great strides in establishing itself as the museum in the Asia Pacific region. It also has fantastic views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

The Museum of Contemporary Art was founded on the basis of a bequest of 6000 paintings from benefactor, the expatriate Australian painter John Power (1881-1943) and substantial assistance from the New South Wales government. Well organised, with a good shop and cafe, it has provided an extremely welcome addition to the Sydney art scene.
