    Birmingham:

Middle Eastern treasures and one of the world's largest pre-Raphaelite collections are among highlights of the centrally-located Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery. The Waterhall Gallery of Modern Art, 19th-century Round Room and impressive Edwardian Tea Room are worth a visit.

This is the place to go if the likes of Burne-Jones, Alma Tadema and Rosetti are your thing, and also to browse collections representing every era of art, history, science and nature, from the geology of millions of years ago to the products of human creativity and enterprise.

Major temporary exhibitions take place in the converted Gas Hall and may charge for admission.
