    Mexico City:

Metropolitan Cathedral in the Centro Histórico boasts breathtaking Hispanic Baroque flamboyance. Built in the 16th century, it is also the oldest cathedral in the Americas. Sunday evening mass features mariachis, Mexican musical groups, and the bell tower provides city views.

The Metropolitan Cathedral stands proudly in Zócalo square in the centre of Mexico City. Having demanded the destruction of the Aztec temple that stood on the site, the conqueror Hernán Cortés ordered a new Catholic church to be built in its place. The cathedral remains the largest in Latin America, possessing aspects of Spanish renaissance, French neo-classical and Baroque architecture. It holds regular services.
