    San Francisco:

The winding one-block stretch of Lombard Street on Russian Hill is famously known as the "crookedest street in the world" and draws hundreds of visitors daily. Visitors can either drive down the brick-lined street or walk along the flower-lined staircases.

Lombard Street was made famous when it was featured in the Disney film, The Love Bug, claiming its "crookedness" and making it one of San Francisco's most famous landmarks. The hill on which Lombard Street is located is at a precipitous 27-degree angle, making it necessary for the road to curve back on itself eight times.

Traffic can be heavy here due to the fact that so many tourists negotiate the turns, so cars are limited to travelling downhill through the carefully landscaped flowerbeds that make up the infamous hairpins.
