The Heide Museum of Modern Art in Bulleen is made up of three buildings, all set within large gardens. Explore inside Heide I, II and III to see the contemporary collections or wander among the outdoor sculpture displays and installations.
The Heide Musuem of Modern Art was conceived as an artistic bolt hole - an "idyllic refuge of inspiration for artists and intellectuals" where the likes of Australian artists such as Sidney Nolan, Albert Tucker and Joy Hester came to work.
The original building is now called Heide I, while the Reeds' 1964 addition - in distinctive modernist design, with its white linear stonework, courtesy architect David McGlashan - is Heide II. Heide III is designed by O'Connor & Houle and continues the theme of striking architecture.
