The traditionally ornate but newly restored Victorian grandeur of the Leeds Grand Theatre & Opera House is among the North's premier venues. The city-centre home to Opera North, it also features ballet and drama, among plenty of lighter shows.
As part of the major redevelopment of the venue, the Assembly Room - adjacent to the main theatre - has been transformed into a 350-seat flexible hall as a home to the Orchestra of Opera North.
The extraordinary conservation work on the interior barrel-vaulted ceiling features the original stencil work and state-of-the-art acoustics make it a vibrant new addition to Leeds' venues. Its programme also includes art-related projects with music and contemporary work, and it is home to Opera North's burgeoning education department.
