Stockholm's City Hall is an imposing red-brick building in Kungsholmen with a gorgeous interior, including a room walled with golden mosaics and a covered courtyard where the Nobel Prize banquet is held. The central tower offers great views.
Completed in 1923, the building was designed to celebrate Stockholm and Sweden, hence with the three golden crowns at the top of its tower - the symbol of Sweden for at least 700 years. Swedish artwork adorns the outside of the building and the grounds, covering everything from classic Swedish forms to very modern works.
The building has two courtyards - one uncovered and one covered. The meeting room used by the Stockholm council has a roof designed to look like an overturned Viking longboat.
