An important cultural centre for the screening of independent films, the Cinematheque in Tel Aviv also runs workshops in production techniques for young filmmakers. Films are screened throughout the year and the cinema stages regular unique theme nights.
Major annual events held at the Cinematheque are DocAviv - the Tel Aviv International Documentary Film Festival - and the Israeli Academy Awards.
