The Chinese Museum plays a living part of Melbourne's vibrant Chinatown. The fascinating exhibits document, preserve and display the history of Australians of Chinese descent, from the first Chinese who came to try their luck during the 19th-century Victorian Goldrush.
The museum provides a thoughtful and entertaining mix for families. The journey of the first migrants seeking their fortunes in the goldfields of Victoria is recreated, as are their settlements once arrived. There are colourful wedding costumes, photos and ephemera of the 1930s Young Chinese League. The Museum also houses the Millennium Dragon, the largest Chinese dragon in the world.
