    Manila:

Crawl through the cramped streets of Chinatown in Binondo in an elaborate horse-drawn calesa (carriage) for souvenirs and gifts. Here cluttered shops sell jade figurines, carved jewellery, silk purses and horoscope key rings. When energy runs low, make a pit stop for chilli noodles.

Manila's Chinatown lies along the northern bank of the Pasig river, a symbol of the long history of Chinese presence in the Philippines, long predating the arrival of the Spaniards. Today, it is still an important trade and business centre, not to mention a haven for shoppers.
