Nottingham Castle is a 17th-century ducal mansion perched on a hill overlooking the city. Built on the site of a former medieval castle, today it houses a museum and art gallery. Don't leave without walking around the beautiful gardens.
Interactive displays bring the castle to life for children and there are tours around the caves underneath, from Mortimer's Hole to David's Dungeon.
There is also a café on the ground floor with city views, a shop that sells crafts, fine art books, postcards and gifts as well as a children's playground.
