    Cardiff:

Castell Coch is Cardiff's very own fairytale castle, nestling in the woods on the outskirts of the city, complete with turrets and round towers. Take a tour of the elaborate interiors of this 19th-century castle, built on medieval foundations.

Castell Coch, meaning Red Castle in Welsh, was rebuilt from the ruins of a medieval castle during Victorian times. The Castell was designed by William Burges for the 3rd Marquis of Bute, who had previously commissioned him to remodel Cardiff Castle. Work began in 1875 and was completed in 1891. The castle has an authentic medieval exterior appearance, but the interiors are pure Victorian fantasy, richly and imaginatively decorated.
