Located in Pisa's Piazza dei Miracoli, the Camposanto is known as "the most beautiful graveyard in the world". Its artistic wealth includes Roman sculptures, ancient sarcophagi, various statues and a selection of incredible frescos that adorn its walls and interiors.
It is said that the grounds were consecrated with earth from Golgotha, in the Holy Land, at the end of the 12th century, when the then-archbishop came back from the Crusades.
