    Vienna:

Prince Eugene of Savoy's 18th-century summer palace, Belvedere, stands in Vienna's Landstrasse district. Formal gardens sweep up to the grand residence, crammed with medieval paintings, baroque sculpture and Schiele, Kokoschka and Monet originals. The undisputed highlight is Klimt's The Kiss.

The collection includes Secessionist paintings by Klimt, the next generation's paintings by Schiele and Kokoschka, an impressive selection of 19th-century Biedermeier art and works by French Impressionists including Monet and Renoir.

Divided into two sections, the Upper Belvedere houses an impressive collection of Austrian art from the Middle Ages to the present day while the Lower Belvedere (Prince Eugene's personal quarters) with its Marble Gallery and Golden Room allow a fascinating look back at the Baroque era.
