The refurbished city centre Manchester Art Gallery houses thousands of exhibits from 17th-century European art and Pre-Raphaelite paintings to Victorian dolls' houses and a Levi jeans chair. Enjoy the special exhibitions or take a break in the café.
The impressive collection spans six centuries of British and continental fine and decorative art. More than 2000 objects are on display at any one time, including oil paintings, sculpture, drawings, prints and a wide selection of craft and design, from ancient Greek pottery to contemporary furniture.
The gallery also presents a changing programme of special exhibitions on the top floor.
