    Havana:

Built in the 1920s in the centre of Old Havana, the impressive pink Ambos Mundos Hotel was made famous by Ernest Hemingway. His room, where he wrote the first part of For Whom the Bell Tolls, is now a museum.

The hotel commands great views of the cathedral and the charming lobby is a good place to grab a mojito. There is also a popular rooftop restaurant that is open to non-guests.
