Baroque Ca' Pesaro, on the Grand Canal in Santa Croce, is a nobleman's mansion. Inside, the International Gallery of Modern Art houses works by Matisse, Klimt and Kandinsky. Japanese Edo-period (17th-19th-century) objects feature in the Museum of Oriental Art.
Since 1897 the collection of modern art has grown steadily and is now one of the richest in the city. It also includes works by Marc Chagall, Paul Klee, Giorgio Morandi, Giorgio de Chirico and more.
