Paris's Musée des Arts Asiatiques-Guimet houses art and archaeology from India, Pakistan, China and Korea. Among the calm buddhas and angry divinities are exquisite decorative arts including painted Chinese screens and gold-embroidered robes which once clothed Japanese royalty.
Allow a good few hours to plough through this large and fascinating museum. Each geographical location is exhibited in its own wing or floor, spanning out from a magnificent central staircase and illuminated with natural light.
