Fantastic location, right on the ramblas, which was our reason for choosing this hostel. almost opposite the Museu de Cera with its lovely Bosc de les Fades bar which i very much recommend. Clean room with a sink which was useful, we also had a shower in the room (no. 23) which was brilliant. the building is obviously very old with narrow corridors and crumbling plaster, but i found this quite charming. most rooms have a balcony though we did not use ours much. The staff were generally friendly, you have to ring the doorbell to be let in at night but there is someone there all night to do so. Some problems - the window onto the balcony was a bit broken and difficult to close and lock once opened, which put us off opening it again as we did not feel secure with it unlocked. The safe was broken and the staff seemd in no way concerned about this - we were told 'oh its probably the battery, most of them are like that' so i would not assume you will have a working safe. this would be less of an issue to me if the website did not proudly proclaim 'free safe in every room'. Also there were no 'bathroom welcome products' no kettle etc as was advertised, and the tv didnt work, though these were not really a problem, just not as we were lead to expect by the hostel's website (http://www.pensionpicasso.es/en/rooms.html). There was however a fan which worked, and as mentioned above having a shower in the room was brilliant. The staff seemed very insistent that we leave our room key at reception (in a jar on the desk which was not always attended) but eventually agreed we could take it with us - as our room was not cleaned/anything changed during out week stay i can only assume this is because they only have one key for each room (and also therefore do not want it lost/stolen i suppose) The area was very noisy (obviously this is not the fault of the hostel it is simply the area it's in) - my partner found it almost impossible to sleep and i also had very disturbed sleep as a result, this was fine for a fouple of days but after a week we were exhausted. i would strongly advise bringing earplugs if you find it hard to sleep through any noise, as it is VERY loud if you are in a room facing onto the ramblas or the side street (which most do), until about 4 or 5 in the morning. lastly, beware if you do not speak at least reasonable spanish, since we only encountered one member of staff who spoke any (a little) english but really you need some spanish to get by. Great location for the price, but a few issues - mainly i would say take earplugs!

perfect thing that you have a shower in your room too. and your room is cleaned daily. the pension (hostel) is very quiet (if your windows aren't positioned to the street). bed was bad with unstable legs and creak. ofcouse TV doesn't matter, but you can't use it becouse it makes awful sound.

Great location. Dark room. Comfortable bed. Clean bathroom.

  4. Magdalena From Poland On November 30, -0001

Location is great, but cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired! People are nice but don't even know English...

  5. Magdalena From Poland On November 30, -0001

The place is situated in the center of Barcelona, close to subway and La Rambla and therefore there is loud enough for practically the whole night. It is clean and cheap.

You can't beat the locatoin, bang on the Rambla. My room had a small balcony where i could sit a look at the life on the Rambla.

  7. Christina From Sweden On November 30, -0001

Picasso had e really nice location and is what you can expect from a hostel, but sometimes I missed a more cozy atmosphere but the staff was really nice even if they only speak spanish. However, a good hostel!

Tv is broken, internet is broken, and there was incredibly big insect but generally it was ok.

Worst hostels I stayed while backpacking at Europe, and not cheap either. 2/3 staff I met do not speak ANY English. Saw a big cockroach. Located above a bar at Las Ramblas, dont think you are going to get any sleep if you dont have ear plugs. No WIFI accesible because very poor signal. 1 bathroom shared by the entire floor. Enough said (note that I am usual pretty easy going with these reviews).

The bathroom was not goog. The pplomberie were not good and the water atay when you take the showeSome staff dont anderstand english and the communication was terrible. My room was near the street and it is nosy all the nights. They dont have computer room.

Very nice hostel. even staff doesn't speak english, they are very friendly and helful. Everything is clean, towels was changed every day. Location - center of Barcelona!!! I recomend for everyone who needs space just for sleep and shower

It was a hostel in renovation, but on a good location! The windows coolt not close totaly so there was a lot of noise. The towels were not always clean and they were old. The staff didn't speak english, but were kind and friendly! So I have mixed feelings about this place.

Very good hostel, I liked it. But I didn´t like it that you needed to leave the keys in the loby.

  14. Nadine From Netherlands On November 30, -0001

This pension is cheap and central, so don't expect any luxuries. But the rooms are clean (yet extremely sober) and you get new towels every day. The shared bathroom is clean, and so is the shower. However, this shower is broken so you have to hold it yourself... :S This is quite annoying, even more so because the length of the tube was not sufficient enough to hold it over my head (and I'm just 1.72m).

  15. Li Fen From Taiwan On November 30, -0001

They can't speak English, but very friendly. It's smelly in the room, but the price is good. Location is great!!!

  16. Aislynn From USA On November 30, -0001

None of the staff members knew any English, and since I only know basic Spanish, it was difficult to communicate with them. If you stay in this hostel, make sure you can speak and understand Spanish!

Everything was kept very clean. Sheets, towels, and garbages were changed daily, and the rooms were very spacious and nice for the price I paid. However, the advertisement had indicated that there was going to be internet access in the guest rooms--which was very important to me--but the only internet access was on one very old computer that was slow and difficult to use. There also was no working telephone for guest use; only the reception desk phone, which I was not allowed to use. The advertisement also indicated that there was a hairdryer in the community bathroom, but it was broken. The shower was very clean, but the water was mostly cold and had little water pressure.

The Good points: very central, situated in las Ramblas, you have everything very near, nice personal. The Bad points: very loud at night, you hear everthing, when somebody is coming home the have to ring the bell because you have too leave your keys there. very dark inside the rooms, wouldnt recomend it for longer stays. Alltough maybe our room was the noisiest one because it was right in front of the reception.

  19. Piotr From Poland On November 30, -0001

I recommend it. Excellent location, good proce, polite staff. Room was clean. Only disadvantage is nois, you hear everything what is going on building. Za taką cenę można polecić. Pokój czysty. Super lokalizacja. Przeszkadza hałas trochę.

  20. Grham From USA On November 30, -0001

Heat was broken. Lock boxes broken. Television broken. My travelmate got bed bugs. It was not entirely clean. Staff very unfriendly to Americans. Not a pleasant experience.
