We did it. Besides all the pressure for transforming this state of the art 18th Century Building into a luxury boutique Hostel, we kept our goal to open the Palace Lisbon Hostel in June 2010.


Ideally located at the boundary of Bairro Alto, we can provide astonishing views over Avenida da Liberdade, Baixa and the Tagus River. The sun raise at the back of Saint Jorge Castle will give you the perfect picture from our balconies. Need fresh air? Relax in our Zen garden (more than 500sqm), or simply listen to the birds that live in our centenary tree. Just check our Photos!

As we are in the central part of Lisbon, we have a good transport network, reaching the bus from the Airport (every 20m), the metro station, and the Train to Sintra under 150 meters. You won’t believe how good the location is. Lisbon isn’t very big, but it’s a steep climb everywhere. That’s why we use the typical yellow trams, and lucky you, the famous Gloria’s elevator is just 50 meters away.

If you need indoor space, our Bar, TV room, Internet corner or Chillout Lounge will give you plenty of choice. Feel involved in the building, the 4 meters tall ceilings, the handmade doors, the old fashion worked walls or the hand painted tiles will let you breathe old times grandness. Decorated by young Portuguese Artists, our aim is to provide trendy comfort with culture embracement.

Super clean facilities will be our battle every day. Good breakfast, Mega fast free internet and high pressure showers are guaranteed.

Our big PROBLEM will be that you won’t want to leave the Palace Hostel. But we will make our best efforts to oblige you.

    I really liked staying at this hostel. It has just opened in Nov., so everything is new. It´s a nice old building with stucco and some wood carvings (really nice!), but the sanitary installations and kitchen are brand new. The rooms that go to the front have a balcony with an amazing view to the city and the castle Sao Jorge! Breakfast was pretty good too (cereals, rolls, coffee/ tea), you can even have your breakfast outside. There are two terraces, one in front and one in the back of the hostel. Kitchen is open all day, you can cook your own meals. There´s a supermarket nearby. The location of the hostel is good. You are very close to the Restauradores Square. A lot of buses stop there (also the bus from the airport) and there is one of Lisbon´s train station and a starbucks ;-) To the hostel you have to walk up a very steep hill and some steep stairs (that´s the only minus, it´s a pretty tough walk if you have a heavy suitcase, you should rather take a backpack) and the street with the stairs is quite stinky and not very well-lit. But the stairs are worth climbing, that´s why you have this great view to the city from the hostel. And it´s also close to Bairro Alto district which is a great place to go out for dinner or for a drink. The staff was very helpful and friendly, they know a lot about the city and also offer things to do, like a walk to the castle, hostel parties, pub crawls...

    Best hostel ever seen! Beautiful rooms, very clean wc's, and the guys of the staff were very friendly. It's just 200mt from the Bairro Alto, the Lisbon nightlife centre, and 50mt from the underground station, great position!

    I really loved staying at Palace Hostel! The staff was great, the atmosphere was great and my friends and I really felt at home there. The hostel is really clean, the rooms are good-sized and the showers and toilets are in top condition. I can't think of one bad thing to say about the hostel. When in Lisbon, COME TO PALACE HOSTEL!

    Despite the fact that they've just opened a week before, everything was functioning pretty well! The staff provided us with an excellent service, especially Patrick and Ana that were so nice to us from the moment we got there! The service in general is excellent! You should really keep on doing everything the way you do, I'm sure the quality of your staff will result in the excelence of the hostel.
