Brilliant hostel!!! everything was amazing from start to finish (expect for the heating that didnt work - we stayed in december!! - but we got extra blankets) :) Everyone was friendly and welcoming - best hostel!

Flying Pig Uptown is a great hostel with a great stuff and wonderful partying atmosphere. If you looking for a quiet hostel you have to look for another one. This hostel has an inside bar, so fun, beer, music and a lot of noise is usual until 4am or later. The position is great too - in a quiet neighborhood not far from center (15 min) but away from all the coffee-shops and its drug-edicts. Everything is clean inside the place, there are lockers, free WIFI, sheets and everything you need. I would definitely come back here again and I suggest it to all the party-loving people who don't like to sleep.

Best end to my European adventure! The staff is friendly, the rooms and bathrooms are clean, and the people that stay there are incredible to meet! I traveled alone and the atmosphere that The Flying Pig offered allowed me to meet a bunch of other travelers. I cannot wait to return.

Is the best hostel ever, is fun and have a great location. The bar is a party every nigth, full with beautiful people! Tanks! I have a great time here!

Best hosteling experience I've had yet. Don't listen to reviews about the showers - they are so much better than just about ever shower I've had in a hostel- hot water that doesn't get cold. As a single girl traveling alone I felt really safe in the area. Vondelpark is right across the street (literally!) and it is BEAUTIFUL! Museumplein starts at one end of the street and Leidseplein with all the best bars and food is at the other. This is for people who want real Amsterdam - not just the red light district. The staff are excellent and FUN and stay up all night drinking in the Flying Pig Uptown bar which is a pretty hip and laid-back dive-style bar. The experience of hanging out in the bar is essential to why this hostel is so great. The beds were comfortable and the dorm rooms were really clean. Only downer was the lack of hand-drying machines or paper towels in any of the bathrooms-cleanliness not 100% but not bad either. And lack of mirrors in bathrooms I suppose was a bit of a downer. Hostels close to important stuff like trams, tours, and buses, and also close to Jordaan (good shops). The staff watches your back - they wont let creepers in. love this place and miss it!

The worst hostel where I've ever been. Expansive and dirty!

  7. Bryant From USA On November 30, -0001

The flying pig was an excellent place to stay. Wished it was a little closer to red light district but you can take the tram or a 20 minute walk to get there. Our room overlooked vondelpark which was nice, and they have a good breakfast every morning. Free wifi and laptops. Nice smoking room and big lockers under the beds. overall it was a very good experience, just not in the best location, its not horrible though if you don't mind the extra walking.

Great hostel if you're young, or like to party. If not...you might want to go someplace else. Great location, though.

  9. Alyson From USA On November 30, -0001

Not as nice as Downtown location. Main floor bathrooms STINK!

  10. Meike From Germany On November 30, -0001

This is just the best hostel you could go to. True, the bathrooms aren't the cleanest, but it has a great laid back atmosphere and actually a great position for the nightlife is only a five minute walk away. Great hostel. Can't do anything but recommend it

  11. Frederick From USA On November 30, -0001

The Flying Pig has to be the best hostel in Amsterdam. The staff was very friendly and informative. There's a great bar to hang out at downstairs in the hostel that serves alcohol till 3PM and is also 420 friendly. Lots of great shops, bars, coffee shops around the area and the Van Gogh museum is just around the corner. Amsterdam is amazing. I'd say it's Disneyland for adults.

  12. Kira From Belgium On November 30, -0001

We really enjoyed our stay. The smoke in the bar was at times 2 much for me, is there a way you could ventilate the area? We appreciate that its all inclusive, like the skates and the internet. I dont know whether its possiable to make the prices of consumptions in the bar lower, it would be great:). But had a good time, thank you.

  13. Maria Luiza From Brazil On November 30, -0001

The hostel is excelent, the staff is great, everything was worth paying. The only bad thing is the size of the bathroom, it's very small :(

  14. Mel From Brazil On November 30, -0001

Since its uptown, the location is not perfect, but u can very easily reach it AND the party nearby is also very good! The hostel itself is amazing, definitely the best one me and my friends stayed at! Theres SO MUCH FUN! We were there only for 2 nights (monday and tuesday, although there it looked like friday and saturday nights!!) - wishing we couldve stayed a lot more! Also, the kitchen is great, and u can save a lotta money w/ the left overs! The staff could have been a little more friendly.. but w/e! I sure recommend it to everyone! And im coming back!

  15. Rachel From USA On November 30, -0001

  17. Ashley From USA On November 30, -0001

Good location. Can get loud at night (due to the bar) but the bar is a great place to hang out.

  18. Luca From Australia On November 30, -0001

  20. Jennifer From USA On November 30, -0001

really nice hostel but it's far from the center of the city where everything is going on. overall a really nice hostel and a plus having the bar in the basement. =)
