Downtown backpackers hostel is a great place. Quiet, clean, super nice and with a lovely feel to it. The kitchen is top and the personel is mega friendly. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to have a relaxed and homely stay in beautiful Venise.
My girlfriend and I had a great time in the downtown backpackers hostel. It is located in a cozy area. The facilities were more than okay: The bathrooms were clean and the kitchen was perfect. There's a fridge, 4 cooking fires, saucepans, cutlery,.... There was even a great table were you could eat with other guests and have a nice chat with them. I think this place is perfect for young and old people who don't need the great luxury. I strongly recommend this hostel!
This hostel is rather off the beaten track but it is near one of the beautiful, old churches and we could see a bit of the water from our window. So it isn't for those who like to be in the thick of things, or who have trouble walking a bit, but it was nice and quiet so you could get your rest at night and we didn't ever have problems using the shared shower/facilities or the kitchen ever (both of which were quite clean). Also, please note that it is not air-conditioned though they give you a fan. Still, it was in the 90s when we went so we were a bit uncomfortable and perhaps would have chosen elsewhere on that basis had we known. (Perhaps it was in the fine print?) The process of checking in at one hotel and then going to another was also a bit cumbersome (and we packed light) so it may not be the place for you if you don't travel light or have children to wrangle. When we got to the actual hostel we had to wait outside with our luggage for 10 minutes as it seemed the attendant was occupied elsewhere and/or wasn't answering the bell. We just sort of left the key with someone who answered the "staff only door" upon check-out, which was a little unnerving, but assume it worked out fine since we never heard anything more of it.
Very simple, but clean. The kitchen is simple as well but has everything you need. There are no party-people so you can sleep very well. In our opinion the hostel is situated perfectly. The neighbourhood is not very touristically and there are many nice bars and restaurants where are also a lot of italian people. The boatstop is nearby, so that you can reach the interesting sights or the beach very fast.
did u see that everyone complains about the mosquitos? Pay attention to that. There are no mosquito nets or something that prevents them from getting inside ur room. We have read all the comments and we were like "Why are all these people complaining about the mosquitos?? What does the hostel has to do with this problem?" Well, after three not slept nights because the mosquitos were eating us alive, I know why people complained so much. It is impossible to sleep with closed windows, since Venice is REALLY hot, so, the mosquito nets could be a nice move from the hostel. After the three nights, we were bagging to go home, away from the mosquitos... besides that, all good. The fun factor is 30 because there are not really an environment of interaction, but this is not important in Venice.
Quiet place (not in the very centre) in quiet real Venetian district (not many tourists) Clean. You will get your own keys. There are few rooms two shower rooms. Big kitchen and common room. There is no kettle! It is in the building next to church. I definitely recomend it!
excelent: nice, clean, quiet, near a vapporetto station with good connections to all the atractio points.
I stayed at the Hotel Minerva and it was very clean and nice. Not somewhere to meet fellow travelers. The location was nice next to the train station because we didn't have to haul our bags far, but very busy street. Venice is small enough to stay anywhere.
I highly recommend it!! Simple and quiet, and REALLY CLEAN. The building used to be a religious school in the past, that´s why bedrooms are comfortable. Perfect to stay a few days, it also has living room, kitchen and shared bathrooms. Cleanliness was the best thing of the place. Don´t expect a funny place in order to meet people, it´s just a quiet place to stay at night. One of the problems was to get to the hostel: we had to go first to Minerva Hotel to check in and pay before going to the hostel. I suggest you to go straight to the Hotel Minerva, and after paying and checking in, just head to the Hostel. Otherwise, it could be a chaos... But I recommend it, definitely!!
This is clean, basic accommodation for a great price for Venice, very quiet area but easy walking everywhere or catch boats. Would use again.
Good solutions for tourists
Its a great place to stay, nice room, excellent facilities and very friendly staff. Recommended!
Couldn't fault this hostel! Was in a perfect location, was very clean and great to have somewhere to cook as Venice was expensive to eat.
Very good
good location and large rooms, great facilities
It's a very nice and clean hostel with nice and helpful staff!
I guess for Venice is a good price but the location is not great. The staff was good (especially the cleaning lady) and the room was comfortable and clean
We had a wonderful stay in venedig. The place was just perfect: Nice and clean rooms and just 10 min to train station.
Not really at the centre of Venice, but easy to get to as soon as you've got directions and very quiet, indeed. Lots of mosquitos, though. The communal kitchen not really proper, but that's because guests don't clean up behind them. To be recommended for everybody who likes things simple. A bit difficult for late arrivals, as you have to stay the night in a different hotel in a very busy area.
A few rooms at the top of an old monastery make for a unique hostel stay. Rooms are comfy, big and clean there are two bathrooms and a kitchen/common room area. There are great views from the hostel, and although the location isn't particularly close to the centre, in Venice that seems to be a good thing. The area is peaceful and beautiful, unspoilt by tourists and interesting by night. Staff let you do your own thing and for the most part seem absent (had no idea who was actually in charge), but that turned out to be ideal. Definitely recommended.
