In Germany, preparations for Christmas and New Year begin early. The real celebration for Christmas actually starts from December 6th and continues till the New Year comes.
During December 6th, also known as St. Nicholas day, children put their shoes or boots outside the door for St. Nicholas to either fill their shoes or boots with delicious treats if they are good or twigs if they have been naughty.
