Christmas and New Year in the United Arab Emirates is a widely celebrated event. These seasons are celebrated with glittery decorations, bountiful food and fun filled activities.
Christmas in the UAE involves a lot of mall cruising and shopping. Most malls in the country are nicely decorated and Christmas trees are beautifully lighted up. Santa Claus is also seen in many of the malls in the country. Children wearing their traditional black abaya sit on Santa?s lap as they take pictures with him and go home happily. Most shops and malls such as the Marina mall are opened because Christmas is considered a working day to the people.
In Dubai, shopping centres such as the Wafi City Mall are adorned with tall Christmas trees and a Santas Village is located within the mall. Here you can see all sorts of Christmas decorations such as gingerbread houses, penguins and Santa?s elves which will surely delight the children and even adults.
New Year in the UAE is definitely one of the largest celebrations in the country where people celebrate with fireworks, wine and lights as they anticipate the New Year to come. The festivities begin as the Big Ben?s chimes sounds. Some of the elite Dubai residents attend the Black-Tie gala diner which is held at the Marina Terrace of the Le Meridien Mina Seyahi. While having a great dinner with family and friends, people enjoy the amazing fireworks that usher in the New Year.
As the New Year night continues, people dressed in colourful classic suites come out and attend grand balls and concerts. Most teens go to Dubai to experience an exhilarating party in the city.
