    Florence:

Leonardo's Machines is a series of exhibitions on Da Vinci's ingenious creations, including this permanent one at the historic Caffè Michelangiolo in the heart of Florence. From flying machines to hydraulic models, there are several objects to explore.

The exhibition is a fun way to introduce the whole family to Leonardo's fascinating experiments and inventions. Ideas that he pioneered include the helicopter, the armoured car, the eight-barrelled organ, the parachute, a contraption to allow walking on water and even the humble paddle boat. His work laid the foundations for many of the theories behind hydraulics, mechanics, optics, flight and understanding anatomy.
