    One of the grandest works by neo-classical master architect Karl-Friedrich Schinkel, the Altes Museum on Museumsinsel (Museum Island) has housed Berlin's Collection of Classical Antiquities since 1904. Highlights include Greek sculptures, mosaics and jewellery.



    Originally built to house all of Berlin's art collections, the Altes Museum was seriously damaged by fire during the Second World War. Just in case you're wondering, the great big marble bowl outside was a bit of a mistake - it was supposed to go in the entrance hall but, you guessed it, it was too big to fit through the door...
