Info & Description
Right in the heart of Amsterdam, just a stone's throw from the Royal Palace, between Dam Square and the Red Light District and only a 5 minute walk to the central train station, lies Hostel Croydon's budget Amsterdam hostel rooms. All of the private rooms have bathrooms. Bathrooms are in side the private and mixed dorm rooms except twin, triple and quad. All the rooms are renovated in 2009.
Dam Square is a two minute walk away and a great place to get your bearings. From here you can head west to Anne Frank's house, south to the Van Gogh museum and east to Rembrandt's house. There are canal tours, coffee shops left, right and centre and exhibits that will make your head spin.
The Dutch capital is a city like no other. Where else can you find guided tours of a red light district, Rembrandt's house, the Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank's house, Tulips, 'coffee shops' and cheap beer? Old blends into new, radical squatter art installations hang off 17th century eaves, BMW's give way to bicycles and triple strength, monk brewed beer is served up in minimalist cafes. Hostel Croydon is your first culture stop in this beautiful city.

Worst Hostel I have ever been. Tiny rooms for 8 people. Mice! Yes there are mice and I had things on my skin because of that. I was planning to stay for 7 nights but I left at two and they did not give me my money back. Hotel Croydon is the previous name of the hostel. Check TripAdvisor reviews before going!
Very clean. No issues during check-in or check-out. Friendly staff.
The bathrooms are dirty, it's the noisiest hostel I've stayed in so far, and the lockers aren't very secure. The guy at reception was very nice though.
The worst hostel where i have been in europe. Dirty, small, noisy, disgusting! If I have known that I would have paid twice more to go elsewhere. No intimacy and the rooms are awful. there is not even enough plugin for everyone so we have to charge our phone one after one. The bathroom is DISGUSTING and no one cleaned if during the two days that I stayed and it was already stinking when I arrived. The neighborhood is super noisy so it's impossible to sleep before 4am. To conclude : the worst hostel EVER and I have already been to places all over Europe.
It was amazing location and nice stuff
Got a bit smelly but staff cleaned everyday. Staff were very approachable. Hostel located very central and was quite cheap. Good deal in the end
It's filthy. They wake you up an hour before checkout time on the last day. A staff member shouted at one guy, calling him "motherf***er.". The windows don't shut out street noise at all.
Great value for the money, will definitely come back!
best situated near Damrak and Dam square, railway station, polite personnel gave me useful recommendations for free Amsterdam tour, cheap bike rent etc
it was a cheap option, in was clean, the staff were GREAT, the space was reeally small but in general good place for the cost
please regenerate window
If staying in an dirty room doesn't bother you and the location is more importent for you, you can choose hoster croydon. But if you expect more than a place to stay, you definitely have to find some other place. Hostel Croydon has one adventage for sure. It is located in the best part of the city. It takes only 2 minutes to be in the most touristic places in Amsterdam. But the room should be cleaned. The dirt on the windows was never cleaned, it is impossible to open these windows. What's more there is no kitchen in the hostel building.
it is a really good place, big windows in the room and good position
The bathroom was incredibly cramped. And some of the lockers were also broken, but the beds and sheets were clean and comfortable, and the location was great.
the girl in the reception is nice, but the room were horrible!!
Very small and old Bathroom, but enough to wash the face. Beds are not very big but comfortable. All in all a good place to sleep and very close to the mainstation (5min walk) and easy to find.
Me and my sister are very happy with the accuracy and attitude staff. The price announced that our reservation was for observed. We are pleased that the hotel is located downtown. We wish you many customers and be healthy!
Good Location, weird reception in a waffle crepe restaurant, strairs pretty narrow, give sheets and blankets, too many people for one toilet, but still ok. A little expensive for what it is.
Much better than I expected after reading other reviews online. The room was cleaned every day and the position was excellent!
It was in the middle of the red light district, so very loud, but also near everything which was great. The rooms were not horrible (i've been in worse) but not great either (i've been in better). The crowd this place attracts is for sure the more party/smoker type, so if you plan to go to Amsterdam and remain clean and sober, don't stay in this hostel.
