Info & Description

The Mathias Hostel Budapest is situated in the most beautiful part of the city. Its marvelous panorama sight includes the Buda castle and the hills of the Buda side. The building has four floors, where there is access to the garden from the ground floor. The other rooms include a small terrace.

We offer 65 rooms to the public, most of them double rooms with 2 beds, but there are also some with only 1 bed too. Every room comes with a seperate bathroom and a big garderobe at the entrance for your numerous luggages. The area of the rooms are 20 square meters, of which 5 m2 is the bath, 2 m2 is the entrance, 1 m2 is the garderobe. The area of the terrace is 4,5 m2. There are smoke alarms in every room, but you may smoke on the terraces. For very large groups we offer our tourist type rooms for up to 20 people.

We run a small Bistro in the hostel, where we can serve you with breakfast and coffee. You can also buy alcohol, chips, chocolate, and everything that may be necessary for a tourist.

You can use the Internet free of charge on new computers, WiFi can be accessed in our main hall and in most of our rooms.

    The hostel wasn't too clean, but it was very cheap so we didn't expect much. Moreover, it was very nice that is was so close to the bus station. The Public Transport in Budapest is very good.

    I booked 2 nights and they somehow made a mistake and booked the room for us just one night and so we had to find something else for our second night eventhough I had a reservation confirmation where it said two nights are booked! the stuff was not friendly and didnt even try to help us find something else, they just said theres nothing they can do and we had to leave after one night :( i can absolutely NOT recommend this hostel!!!

    Although it²s well located in the Buda side, the hostel is in a hill and for those with walking problem it can be a difficulty. The staff was nice and helpful. The matress were thin and the room wasnt very clean

    Nice hostel in general. - Probably as we were a big group (more than 100 people) they insist on payment when we arrived (4am). Finally we solved it next day. - On the departure we were delayed by receptionist about 30 minutes because of her mess in room key. I have to say - very unpleasant for us because we needed to be on time at another spot.

    Hostel is a great option for not demanding youbg people, who want to stay near the centre of the city at reasonable prices. The staff was great and cleanliness was very good, too.

    very nice place.Clean, quiet. A little far from center but it's ok- you can make a nice walk and see moore.

    The hostel is located at the "Buda-side" in Budapest. Only one bus drives up to this hill.It's not central. In the night there is no possibility to go by public transport to the bus station beside the hostel. Rooms are ok but nothing to leave property of a higher value in it. You have to leave the keys at the desk and in the night is self-service!!!!! Bathroom and rooms are not dirty but also not clean.

    The hostel is very good. It had everything we needed. There were a few stains on sheets, but everything was okay. The bathroom was clean and in a good condition. The best thing about the hostel is the price. I would definitely come here again.

    Not very clean but acceptable, breakfast at minimum, quite far from town. Nice place for a cheap stay, prices very low and good quality for what you pay.

    It is ages away from the main station, so it takes a while if you walk. The rooms were clean and the staff were nice. And they had Skype!!!

    In general cleanliness is fine, but the shower curtain was a bit mouldy at the bottom. Staff very helpful, organised a taxi for us when we requested. Only disadvantage is that if you're walking from the train station, you're in for a long walk!
