Legendary location of the birth of the Czech nation, Vyehrad (high castle) is dominated by the twin gothic towers of the Church of Saints Peter and Paul. Don't miss the cemetery with graves of luminaries including Neruda, Smetana and Dvorák.
The rock of Vyehrad towers over the east bank of the Vltava. For 1000 years, its imposing rock has been a seat of royal power and fortress; Vratislav II built his residence there in 1085, but 60 years later royal focus moved to Prague Castle. It now welcomes visitors to historical and visiting exhibitions and its green park areas.
