Madrid's Bullfighting Museum, the Museo Taurino, is located inside Madrid's premier red-brick Las Ventas Bullring. As well as looking at the history and development of bullfighting, the museum displays different styles of costumes and capes worn by world-renowned toreros (bullfighters).
There are also paintings by artists such as Vásquez Díaz, Eugenio Lucas and Roberto Domingo, as well as sculptures and a few bull heads.
Today bullfighting is an emotional topic, arousing passions among aficionados and animal rights campaigners alike. While many may be against the taunting of animals for sport, bullfighting is associated with a sense of Spanishness, inextricably tied in with the national identity.
