    Athens:

Occupying a neo-classical house in Kolonaki, the Benaki Museum offers a walk through the history of Greek art from 3000 BC up to the 20th century. Laid out in chronological order, exhibits include jewellery, ceramics, sculpture, paintings, furniture and costumes.

The Benaki Museum was founded in 1930 with the collections of Antonis Benakis and other donors. This landmark is the best place in the city for a lesson in the historical and cultural development of Hellenism.

On display are 33,000 works ranging from antiquity and the age of Roman domination to the creation of the modern Greek state.
